Synopsis:

Welcome to Soulless.
We are the generation that laughs at death.
Reincarnation; what was once considered a gift of immortality has become an eternity of nightmares.
Nadia Richards lives in a world plagued by reincarnation, a system of recycling souls where all past memories, personalities and traumatic events are relived daily in disjointed sequences. Trapped within their own warped realities, not even the richest and most powerful are saved from their own minds unraveling. Madness is the new human nature, and civilizations are crumpling beneath themselves trying to outrun it.
Within a society that ignores death, Nadia appears to be the one exception to the reincarnation trap. Born without any reincarnated memories and with printless eyes, the hot tempered 19 year old quickly becomes the ultimate prize to all those wishing to end the vicious cycle, or for some, to ensure they could evade death forever.

My Review

In this post-apocalyptical world, souls are recycled and Immortality has been achieved but at what cost? At the cost of remembering all past lives, good or bad. Because of this , the class system is even more defined since the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor and nothing can be done about it. There is a lack of love and compassion in this bleak dystopian society , even the love of parents is not evident.

Nadia our main character, is an anomaly within this world since she doesn’t have any past life memories and is Soulless. Being different in this world however is not exactly safe so pretty soon Nadia is fighting for her basic rights and life.

I really admired and liked Nadia and found her to be strong and resilient yet in touch with her emotions in a world where emotions don’t come into play. The world is also complex and interesting and obviously well thought out. It is brutal, dark and depressing as I imagine such a world would be and I like that the author did not hold back from getting down to the nitty gritty details.

Overall, a really great dystopian read with dark disturbing moments and rare moments of light, and real, relatable, well developed characters. Highly recommended for lovers of dystopian fiction.
