But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all—the Crown Prince Aldrik—she finds herself enticed into his world. My Review

I delved into Air Awakens without even reading the synopsis but had a vague idea that it involved magic and sorcerors and since I love anything fantasy, that was all I needed to know.

The author takes the time to intoduce the main characters and to introduce the teader to this world where each corner of the world has its own type of elemental magick. In the western where our female protaganist Vhalla Jarl lives, there are firebearers. In the south, there are Waterrunners, in the north Groundbreakers and in the East, WindWalkers. Now, while the other three corners of the world are well represented, there hadn’t been a WindWalker in over a century and it just so happens that Vhalla is one. So you can only imagine what happens when that comes to light in a world where sorcerors are feared and WindWalkers were thought to have been wiped out.

There are some familiar fantasy tropes within Air Awakens but the author’s impeccable narration and worldbuilding, together with incredible character development makes it all seem new and original. I found myself especially fascinated by Vhalla’s magical capabilities and how it will develop over time and whether or not a full blown romance will happen between her and Prince Aldrik, the second most intriguing character.

I loved Vhalla’s character because while she is not totaly helpless, she is not exactly all powerful either and has to learn about her powers and how to use them and this while being fearful of magic. I also fell in love with Prince Aldrik because I believe that underneath all that arrogant, selfish layer, is a heart of gold.

There are so many great elements to Air Awakens that have to read it yourself to fully appreciate and experience this world of Solaris where magic, political intrigue and romance come together to deliver an adventure unlike any other. Air Awakens is a fun, captivating, intense, pageturing action-packed fantasy with a slow-burning romance that will make you fall in love over and over again with the characters and the plot and the world.

This is definitely one of the best debuts I’ve read in a long time and I am so happy to have found new characters to fall in love with. I recommend this to EVERYONE!
