First off, let’s take a moment to appreciate that beautiful cover! Another one I plan to own a physical copy of someday.
I loved The Sleeping Prince even more than The Sin Eater’s Daughter, the first book in this series. The Sleeping Prince is a perfectly dark villain, capable of mass homicide in his pursuit to reclaim what he sees as rightfully his, and revenge for what was done to him centuries ago.
I loved the legend woven throughout the novel about the Prince, and how few of the characters are revealed to be connected with him in surprising ways.
This books was a joy to read through the author’s unique style of writing. It had an even pacing with some breathtaking, angsty moments, fighting scenes, mindblowing secrets and revelations, and a heroine I couldn’t help but admire for her tenacity, determination and loyalty.
A couple familiar faces make an appearance and their connection to the Prince is very intriguing. I liked that they made an appearance as it cleared up a few questions, and some relationships were mended and new understandings gained as a result, while others were pulled apart.
What I learned aobut the Sleeping Prince helps to shed new light on The Sin Eater’s Daughter and leaves me hunkering for more information in the next novel.
Overall, a real page-turner, which chapter after chapter, draws you further into into its beautifully dark world, and keeps you engaged on pins and needles, holding your breath at some places, until the stunning conclusion, which satisfies yet teases with what the next novel will hold for the characters. I loved it and I highly recommend this series.
