My Review

Black Water Tales: The Secret Keepers is a lyrically written tale with ominous undertones.

“In Black Water it seemed that everyone knew something, but no one knew everything, which was the subterfuge that held it together and kept it sick at the same time”.

This novel is about a town that’s good at keeping secrets and a murder mystery which is about to be solved, leaving the main character wondering if she really knows anyone at all.

The main character Regina has moved out of Black Water after her best friend Lola went missing. Eight years later, she receives a dreaded phone call; Lola’s body had been found in a gruesome manner which immediately raises questions in Regina’s mind as to who mutilated her friend’s body. She returns home for the funeral and haunted by nightmares, she decides in order to put Lola to rest, she must find out who did this to her friend. What she uncovers. will leave her wondering just whom she can trust and what other secrets are buried in Black Water.

This was such an enjoyable and suspenseful read. The writer’s prose is lyrical and haunting, drawing the reader in with descriptions that are so vivid, the mind can effortlessly visualise the town, its inhabitants and events.
The tale is a chilling one not only because of the gothic like feel one gets from the description of the locale, but also because of the realisation that you can never really truly know anyone. The characters are all mysterious and have secrets of their own and I was never sure who to trust either.

The revelation of how Lola died and was subsequently dumped at the discovery site was surprising to say the least. There are many twists and turns and surprises that I never saw coming and the pervasive sense of fear was almost palpable.

My only qualm was that the plot dragged somewhat in the middle of the book but the author sure made up for that with an explosive ending.

I loved meeting all the characters and can say that Black Water is somewhere I would not want to live. The people creep me out, since no one seems to be really good or totally honest, then again that’s how it is in reality, isn’t it?

A chilling, eerie thriller with lyrical prose ,vivid descriptions  and enough plot twists guaranteed to keep you guessing, Black Water Tale: The Secret Keepers is sure to delight fans of the genre and other readers alike.

About The Author

I was born in the tiny, but lovable town of Centralia, IL which has a two screen movie theatre, one high school and still celebrates May Fete, so I had no choice, but to develop a fantastic imagination. Since childhood I have been writing everything from short stories to songs, but I have always aspired to compose a novel. Black Water Tales: The Secret Keepers is my first novel and the first book in what will be a series of thriller novels.

Philosophy was my study in college and I received a Bachelor of Arts in the subject from Florida International University. Writing is one of my most favored artistic pursuits, but my love for the arts does not stop there, I am also a vocalist and actress and participate in local theater in Houston Texas.
