Title: Chasing Rabbits
Author: Erin Bedfore
Publication Date: June 2, 2016
I received a copy from the author for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion in any way.
Alice was wrong – Wonderland wasn’t so wonderful after all.
Kat never expected to be back in her hometown, but when house sitting turns into a mad rabbit chase, Kat finds herself with a whole new set of problems.
A two-headed bird with a Game of Thrones obsession, a party full of tea addicts, and a Cheshire Cat who could seduce the pants off her grandma? And if the citizens weren’t bad enough their prince was off his rocker.
This wasn’t your run of the mill Wonderland. This was the Fae world, where rules are rules, and some things are exactly as they seem.

This unique, cleverly wrought take on Alice in Wonderland, infused with mystery, romance, the Fae and a s sassy heroine with a sarcastic with, practically bursts with vivid imagery and delightful, colorful characters and is a great contender for one of my favourite retelling of all time.
This version of Wonderland doesn’t star Alice , but Kat. Alice makes an appearance but in a role totally twisted that will have you wondering just how innocent Alice really is. We encounter some of the familiar characters but they have al been given different role and fresh life. The Characters are well-developed and come alive on the pages. One can’t help but fall in love with them all.
The main protagonist, Kat, is a sassy, sarcastic redhead with a temper to match. You do not want to get on the wrong side of her boots ( once you’ve read the book, you’ll understand the reference). She had me laughing out loud, to many times to count. I love her dry humour and I think the author put a lot of herself or someone very close to her in this character. She is too realistic to be purely fictional.
Another favourite character of mince is the Cheshire Cat or Chess ash he prefers to be called. He is definitely a man of mystery, straddling the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, part of both but not belonging to either, he is a Fae with an agenda which I hope to uncover soon. The Prince is also another mysterious character whom I fell in love with and wait to learn more about.
The plot, which seems pretty simple at first, soon metamorphosises into a deeper, more complex one with secrets and twists and Kat at the very center of it all.
Guaranteed to keep you turning pages, Chasing Rabbits is more than a Retelling; it is a transcendence of all that we thought we knew about Wonderland and is a fascinating, masterfully written journey into a world filled with creatures whose dark natures though hidden, are very much present. With detailed descriptions and surprising twists and turns, this is one Wonderland adventure you won’t want to miss out on!
