by Sara Secora
Genre: YA Fantasy
Release Date: August 2016
Summary from Goodreads:
As a seventeen-year-old ruler chafing under the obligations of her bloodline, Princess Amethysta Serelle finds the royal life anything but enchanting.
Betrothed to a nefarious highborn, Amethysta’s heart mourns her lost chance at love—that is, until she becomes mesmerized by someone other than her suitor, and her heart begins to beat anew.
Desperate to keep her daughter on the path toward duty and the throne, the queen keeps a deadly secret. But as Amethysta balances the burden of expectations and freedom, the glowing, blue truth will not stay hidden for much longer.
Desire and duty battle on, further complicated by strange occurrences happening to Amethysta’s body. She struggles for control as her once unquestioned reality is obliterated.
Will she discover the truth, in her heart and hands, before it’s too late?
What do I like about fantasy? And why have I chosen to write it?
I’d like to start by stating that I’ve always been a nerdy soul. I love video games, animations, dungeons and dragons—you name it. So those things really go hand-in-hand with the fantasy genre. Many of my favorite stories, whether they are told in video game or movie fashion, are typically stemmed from a book. The format in which fantasy is told does not change my adoration of it. However, with that said, there are many times where a book is the more satisfying version of a tale. I believe that is because a book allows deeper attention to detail and gives you a bigger picture due to the lack of pressure on time constraint that I think movies and games face.
Writing fantasy just made sense for me. It is exclusively what I read, although, I do wish to venture out a bit more in the future. I love diving into worlds as an escape. Worlds filled with magic and wonder. They bring a certain level of enchantment that I simply don’t find elsewhere. My appreciation for all things fantasy runs deep, I assure you.
